Three persons were killed in a fire outbreak at the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) at Eyean in Nigeria’s Mid-western Edo state, the local press reported Thursday. The fire started about 1pm local time Wednesday, when some welders were carrying out repairs on a damaged part of the NBC, a subsidiary of Coca Cola international. NBC’s head of external affairs, Ms. Adejanyu Olomola, was quoted as saying the company was saddened by the incident, and that the firm would provide the necessary support to the families of the deceased. She said operations at the multi-billion naira plant had been suspended due to the incident.
