“D.C. Madam” found dead in Florida

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, age 52, also known as “D.C. Madam” faced eight to fifteen years in prison for running a call-girl ring for Washington’s elite. According to The New York Times she was found dead at her mother’s home near Tampa, Florida. Ms. Palfrey was found hanged in a shed on her mother’s property with a hand written suicide note. She allegedly committed suicide because she did not want to go to jail; having said she would rather die than return to a federal prison.
