The national football teams of Algeria and Morocco drew 1-1 Saturday in Kolea, in Western Algiers, in the first leg, first round qualifiers for the African Nations Championship for locally-based players. The second leg is due to be played in Morocco 16-17 May, and the aggregate winner will lock horns with Libya, which qualified following the withdrawal of Egypt. The inaugural edition of the competition will be held 22 February to 8 March 2009 in Cote d’Ivoire.
