The Progressive Teachers Union, in Zimbabwe, threatened to go on strike if they continued to be targets of post electoral violence according to United Press International. The union claims that more than a hundred teachers have been attacked and more have fled in fear. The teachers are considered to support the opposition although the union has officially remained neutral during the presidential elections. MDC, the opposition party, officially won against power holding Zanu PF with over 47% of votes. However the opposition claims that they obtained absolute majority and that the delay to release results (over a month’s delay) indicated the foul play of electoral authorities to make a run off necessary.
