Moroccan security services Monday arrested in Laayoune, capital of Western Sahara, 39 sub-Saharan illegal immigrants who were trying to reach Spanish Canary Islands, police sources disclosed here on Tuesday. The illegal immigrants will be tried, according to sources. Previous sub-Saharan immigrants arrested in similar circumstances used to be rep atriated to their respective countries in conjuction with their diplomatic repre s entatives. The Canary Islands became the new land of hope for thousands of desperate immigr ants in recent times.
