Students from Gaza have seen their prestigious Fulbright scholarships withdrawn by the US state depatment. In a statement made to the press, Tom Casey, spokesperson for the state department explained that the scholarships were withdrawn due to the students inability to obtain permisson from the Israeli authorities to leave the enclave. He also said that the scholarships would be transpfered to the west bank where Palestinians can travel abroad. According to the Guardian Abdulrahman Abdullah who spent several years studying for the Fulbright to study for an MBA said, Education is a humanitarian issue and has nothing to do with Hamas or any other party.
