Egypt dominated a weak Djibouti side 4-0 here in the second match of the 2010 World Cup qualification campaign, less than a week after cruising past the DR Congo. Battling blistering heat, the Pharaoh’s went ahead in the 40th minute and never looked back. English Premiership-bound striker Amr Zaki put Egypt ahead at the break and African Nations 2008 Most Valuable Player Hosni Abd-Rabou added the second shortly after halftime. The two-time defending African champions dominated every aspect of the match, adding goals by captain Ahmed Hassan and Ahmed Eid in the second half for the final margin. Egypt, who struggled slightly against the DR Congo in Cairo earlier in the week in a 2-1 victory, now stands atop their group 12 table with a maximum of six points. DR Congo plays Malawi in the other group match. Egypt is hoping to qualify for the World Cup Finals for the first time since 199 0 and only the third time in the nation’s history.
