Musician Odile Ngaska was Sunday elected chairperson of the Board of Directors of Cameroon’s Musical Art Corporation (SOCAM) during an extraordinary meeting of the corporation. Ngaska, who plays religious music, came first in a double-round election as she got 149 votes in the second round, while her opponent, Romeo Dicka, also a musician, polled 124 votes. SOCAM was set up to replace Cameroon Music Corporation (CMC), whose accreditation was withdrawn in May. SOCAM Board of Directors decided to reduce the number of its members from 19 to 15 and to half the salary of its chairperson, whose amount was one million CFA francs.
