Two Kenyan ministers died Tuesday in a plane crash in El doret, Kenya’s fourth largest city. The ministers — Mr. Kipkalia Kones (in charge of Roads) and Ms Lorna Laboso (Assistant minister for home affairs) — were heading for the Kilgoris Rift Valley to oversee a by-election there Wednesday. Both ministers belonged to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), headed by Mr. Raila Odinga who became the Prime Minister in a grand coalition government, created at the end of the post-election violence which rocked the country following the December 2007 election. Odinga will address a news conference on the crash shortly.
