At least 16 people died on Thursday and dozens were injure d when a coach collided with a tipper truck near Komenda, some 120 kilometres west of Accra. Police said the coach belonging to the State Transport Company was travelling fr om Takoradi to Accra when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses said the tipper trick veered off its lane and crashed head-on into the bus. Critically injured passengers have been sent to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana’s biggest hospital, in Accra.
