The Lone Stars of Liberia made a significant comeback Sunday to hold the Teranga Lions of Senegal 2-2 in their joint 2010 World Cup/CAN qualifier. Liberia put up a brilliant display in the first half of the game, but ended up losing all their scoring chances. However, Senegal struck back with El-Hadji Diouf scoring the opener in the 47th minute, going up 2-0 shortly afterwards. The Lone Star surprisingly changed the pace of the match and got their first goal through striker Dior Williams in the 78th minute. Three minutes later Oliver Makor made it 2-2 with a well deserved strike. Meanwhile, the Liberian government Sunday began distributing US$ 1,000 to families of each of the 10 Liberian fans that died from the stampede and heat exhaustion during the World Cup/CAN qualifier 1 June 2008 between Gambia and Liberia, as assistance to defray burial expenses.
