Eleven of the 14 detained members of Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), a pressure group, have been released on bail and are due to appear in a Harare Magistrate’s court, WOZA disclosed in a communique issued Monday. According to the communique, Ms Jenni Williams and Magodonga Mahlangu, still remained in custody in Chikurubi Female Prison. “The third woman was further detained because the names on her identity documents were different,” the communique stated. “There is great concern at the continued detention of Williams and Mahlangu, who have now been designated as ‘prisoners of conscience’ by Amnesty International. ” Thirteen WOZA members, including one of its leaders, Ms Williams, who is yet to be released and an unnamed man, were arrested 28 May by Zimbabwe Police for staging a demonstration.
