Four armed robbers Tuesday attacked a vehicle belong ing to a private security company along the Maputo Airport, shot dead one of the guards accompanying the vehicle, wounded a second and carted away sacks full of cash. Spokesperson for Mozambique’s national police command Pedro Cossa told reporters the incident happened at about 05.00 am local time but the amount of money stolen could not be immediately ascertained. The Mozambican news agency, AIM, said the vehicle belonged to the Alfa security company while the money belonged to one of the country’s banks, and was to be flown from Maputo to one of the other provinces. Cossa said the police were trying to track down the robbers.
