Zimbabwean wins M-NET Idol contest for East and Southern Africa

Budding Zimbabwean musician Eric Moyo won the inaugural M-Net Idols contest for East and Southern Africa at the weekend, winning US$80,000 and a music recording contract with guaranteed sales worth US$25,000. Moyo beat several other budding musicians from the sub-region, including his last rival, Nicolette Kiiga, from Uganda. The competition, aimed at finding and nurturing young African music talents, was sponsored by M-Net, a large African telecommunications group.
