Football : Libya’s national team beats Niger 6-2 in friendly match

Libya’s national football team Thursday in Tripoli beat its Niger counterpart 6-2, in a friendly match aimed at preparing the teams for the fifth round of the joint qualifiers for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
Libya will host Ghana on 5 September and Niger will lock horns with Uganda in Kampala on 6 September in the resumed qualifiers. Libya is currently second in Group 5 of the qualifiers with 9 points, after Ghana (9 points), while Gabon (3 points) is third and Lesotho (0 points) last. Niger is at the bottom of Group 3 without a point, behind Uganda (7 points), Angola (7 points) and Benin (9 points).
