The Liberia national team, the Lone Star, arrived in Banjul on Thursday for its penultimate round African Cup of Nations/ World Cup qualifying match against the Gambia bubbling with confidence. The Liberia head coach, Anthony Hage, said that his side would win Saturday’s match to boost their chances of qualifying for the next round. He said the Lone Star played well in Monrovia during the first round adding that he had a game plan to win all three points. Asked about the reception accorded him since he was the former head coach of the Gambia national team, he said he was welcomed by old friends and players but expressed disappointment that his players were denied the use of the national stadium. He said his team had to train on a pitch at the back of their hotel.
