African MPs to meet in Cameroon

The third consultative meeting between regional communities and African parliaments opens on Tuesday in Yaounde, the political capital of Cameroon. The meeting to be chaired by Tanzanian Gertrude Mongella, president of the Panafrican Parliament (PAP), will bring together 10 speakers of parliaments and senates of the African countries. According to the president of the National Assembly of Cameroon, Djibril Cavayé Yeguié, host of the meeting, “it will be more of the reinforcement of continental solidarity and the building of a feeling of common destiny among the people of the continent”. The Panafrican Parliament is one of the principal bodies of the African Union, whose headquarters are in South Africa. It started its activities in September 2004.
