The Gambia national team, the Scorpions, on Saturday thrashed Liberia’s Lone Star 3-0 and bundled them out of the 2010 CAN/World Cup qualifiers. The Scorpions took a 2-0 lead in the first half and never looked back. Gambia rushed into the lead after eight minutes through Gambia international Njogu Demba, who capitalized on Liberia defensive mistake to slot the ball into the net, as he answered the fans’ cry of “we need goals”. The Gambia goal disorganized the visitors in their blue, red and white strip and they conceded another goal through Ousman Jallow. After the break the visitors tried all they could but could not hold onto the ball. It came as no surprise when Demba scored his second to make the final score 3-0.
