Suspected militants Sunday attacked a vessel hired by the Nigeria Agip Oil Company in the country’s oil producing Niger Delta region, killing two crew members and abducting one, military sources said. Spokesman for the Joint Military Task Force deployed to the region, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, said the attack took place along Somberero River in Bayelsa state in the early hours of Sunday. He said the vessel, Fulma Lamnamco, hired by Agip for its operations in the country’s Liquefied Natural Gas project, was sailing without being escorted when it was attacked. Musa said no group had claimed responsibility for the attack.
