AU peacekeepers killed and several injured in unprovoked attacks in Somalia

Two Ugandan African Union peacekeepers have been killed and seven others injured in an unprovoked attack by Somali insurgents in Mogadishu last Sunday, the African Union Commission disclosed Tuesday. In a statement, the Commission said the peacekeepers were attacked while in their positions in the restive Somali capital. In addition, the Commission has called on the international community to condemn all acts of aggression and terrorism against AMISOM and provide the Mission wit h the necessary morale and logistic support to finding a lasting peace in Somalia. The Commission said that all peace-loving nations should consider any offensive action on AMISOM as a threat to international peace and security.
