Al Qaeda claims responsibility for Mauritanian army attack

The Maghreb branch of the terrorist organisation , Al Qaeda, claimed responsibility Thursday for the attack perpetrated Sunday evening against the Mauritanian army in the region of Zouerate. In an official statement published here, Al Qaeda indicated that the attack was launched “against the allies of the jews who opened the Mourabitounes’ pure land to the enemies of Islam and the Moslems, to the American non-believers and their united henchmen”. The attack which occurred on the north of Mauritania led to the disappearance of 12 soldiers who are actively searched by military reinforcements in the region. According to Al Qaeda, the attack was intended “to make Islam triumph”.
