Zimbabwe Wednesday announced an increase in the tax-free income threshhold to help struggling workers cope with growing economic hardships in the country. With effect from this month, tax-free income has been raised from ZW$500 to ZW$1 5,000 (ZW$70,000 = US$ 1), the second such tax relief granted to workers in two months. The government said the tax relief was intended to give workers more disposable income to cope with Zimbabwe’s world record inflation of more than 11 million per cent. The government last increased the tax-free income threshhold last month. The tax relief is being given to both low and high income earners.
