Al Ahly of Egypt beats Coton Sport of Cameroon in CAF-MTN Champions League final

Al Ahly of Egypt Sunday won the CAF-MTN Champions League for the sixth time on a 4-2 goals aggregate, after playing 2-2 with Coton Sport of Cameroon in Garoua. The Egyptians won their third title in four years, despite an intimidating crowd of 35,000 – mostly Coton Sport supporters – who witnessed the match.
Incidentally, Al Ahly opened scoring in the 37th minute, when Ahmed Hassan connected a cross by Mohamed Barakat. But Abdoul Lassina brought the hosts level just before the break. Though Coton Sport went ahead 2-1 18 minutes into the second half, a penalty awarded to Al Ahly with just two minutes to the end sealed the hopes of the hosts, when captain Shady Mohamed converted it. Apart from the trophy, the Egyptians smiled away with US$1 million and the ticket to the FIFA World Club Cup in Japan in December.
