South Africa’s preparations for the 2010 World Cup received a major boost on Wednesday night when the team secured an impressive 3-2 win against West African giant Cameroon in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Rustenburg, South Africa. Two first half goals from Orlando Pirates striker Theko Modise laid the foundations for a solid performance from the 2010 hosts, who have now secured four wins out of their last four matches. Although Cameroon drew level in the first half, Bafana Bafana secured the victory courtesy of a late strike from Bernard Parker. Modise missed the opportunity of scoring a hat-trick when his 87th minute penalty kick was saved. South Africa dominated the match which was played in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Royal Bafokeng 2010 stadium.
