Comoran-registered Turkish ship capsizes off Tripoli, 5 missing

Five crew members are missing while two have been rescued after a Comoran-registered Turkish ship capsized in the waters off the Tripoli Port on Thursday, the Libyan News Agency (JANA) reported. The ship was stationed in a waiting area after unloading its cargo at the port when the incident happened. The port management said the Turkish boat, named “Soundous”, capsized due to the high waves and heavy wind. The port services managed to save two crew members while searches were still on to find the other five crew members of the ship, which is owned by the Turkish company “Manigross and Yussef Limited”. The Turkish boat arrived in Libya on 15 November and docked at Wharf 19 in the Tripoli Port the following day, with a cargo of 630 tonnes of goods. The crew members comprise 4 Turks, including the captain, and three Georgian nationals.
