Football: Kenya plays Cameroon in African Military Cup semis

Kenya’s Ulinzi Stars Thursday face the African Military Cup CAMFOOT defending champions, Cameroon, in a semi-final match at the Nakivubo Stadium, Kampala, Uganda. The other semi-final match will feature hosts Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) against either Gambia or Algeria. The two were scheduled to play Wednesday with the winner meeting Uganda Thursday. Uganda, coached by veteran Sam Ssimbwa, is topping Group A with four points after settling for a barren draw with Ulinzi Stars. Both teams proceeded to the semi-finals. Uganda reached the semi-finals after beating Guinea 3-1 and holding the Kenyans to a barren draw. Ulinzi, the Kenya Armed Forces soccer team, edged Guinea 3-2 on Friday. The winner of the seventh African Military Games soccer tournament will represent Africa at the 2010 World Military Cup tournament in Brazil. Group A was reduced to three teams after Gabon made a last-minute withdrawal. In the other game played Monday, South Africa drew 2-2 with Gambia.
