Uncle beheads niece for money-making ritual in Nigeria

An 11-year-old girl, identified as Loveth Balogun, has been beheaded by her uncle allegedly for money-making rituals in Nigeria’s southern Delta state, the local press reported Wednesday. Mr. Collins Balogun, the elder brother of Loveth’s late father, reportedly lured her to the bush and chopped off her head on Saturday at Egini village. He took the head away in a shopping bag, leaving the body in the bush. However, a member of the community who saw Collins when he carried out the act alerted the rest of the community, who mobilised and apprehended the uncle, who is now in the custody of the police. The police have also arrested two pastors of a local church following confessional statements’ made by Mr. Balogun. Police spokesman Charles Muka said a total of four persons had been arrested in connection with the gory incident.
