The Nigerian Navy Friday arrested an unidentified man for allegedly vandalising a pipeline owned by the Nigerian subsidiary of Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell at the Oribiri flow station in Rivers state in the country’s oil producing Niger Delta region. The navy said the man and two others rode in a speed boat and a canoe to the flow station, and had started vandalising the pipeline when naval operatives, who had been alerted by local security men, swooped on them. Two others escaped in the speed. Pipeline vandalisation, which enables the vandals to steal crude oil, costs oil firms millions of dollars.
