Largest church grouping calls for non-recognition of Mugabe gov’t and sets African day of prayer for Zimbabwe

A general assembly of the largest grouping of churches, All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), has called on African leaders to confirm the illegitimacy of Mugabe’ and withdraw their recognition of the Zimbabwean government. The group indicated that it is going to pray for an end to the illegitimate rule of Mugabe’s government which came to power against the will of Zimbabweans as expressed in the March 29 polls, and also urged more unity among unity among churches to address the crisis. Meanwhile, AACC has set January 25 aside as an African day of prayer and fasting for justice in Zimbabwe.
