A magistrate court in Banjul has ordered 79-year-old Dutch, Frank Boers to pay a fine of 100,000 Gambian dalasis (approximately US$ 4,00 0 ) or in default spend two years in jail, after finding him guilty of “indecent practice”, judicial sources in Banjul said Monday. Presiding magistrate Edrissa Mbai further ruled that the convict be served with a deportation order after serving the sentence. Boers was said to have been involved in an indecent affair with some Gambian men in the tiny West African country. He was also said to have been caught on 23 December at the Banjul International Airport with pornographic materials as well as some nude pictures of himself and some Gambian men. Meanwhile, the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh last year banned homosexuality activities – urging all those involved to leave the country or face serious consequences.
