he Ivorian government has asked the local boss of the South Africa-based telecommunications firm MTN to leave the country over a financial donation that was deemed embarrassing to President Laurent Gbagbo. According to an official statement, the MTN official, Rwandan Aimable Mpore, was given five days to leave the country on Thursday evening, after he gave CFA F 65.5 million to Mrs Bléhon Emilienne, wife of former secretary at the presidency, who had introduced herself as an emissary of President Gbagabo to solicit a financial aid in favour of the victims of food poisoning in the country. The Ivorian authorities blame Mr Mpore for his failure to cross check with the presidency before making the donation.
