Ethiopian police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of an American diplomat, who was found dead in his apartment last week. “We think we arrested the right suspect,” Ethiopian Federal Police Commander Demsash Hailu said in a telephone interview, a week after police launched investigations into the murder of the American foreign service official. Police nabbed the man with personal items belonging to the 25-year-old American diplomat, who was apparently murdered after what appears to have been a violent robbery at his home in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. “The case is still under investigations. We are unable to give more details on this case until the investigations are concluded.” the police said. The Ethiopian capital remains largely peaceful and cases of violent robberies are a rare, but the murder of the American diplomat, which the police suspect to have occurred on 27 January, raises alarm over an apparent crime surge. Sources said the police found the suspect with a laptop computer as well as other items belonging to the deceased.
