
Algeria will have its first nuclear power station around 2020. The Algerian minister of energy and mines, Chakib Khelil, said in a radio interview, according to Jeune Afrique. “By the year 2020, Algeria will probably have its first nuclear power station, with one to follow every five years”, he declared. Civil nuclear agreements have already been signed with Argentina, France, China and the United States. Algeria presently has two experimental nuclear plants in Draria, in the suburbs of Algiers and another one in Ain Oussera, near Djelfa (about 300 kms from Algiers)
