US President, Barack Obama, Wednesday, has presented Stevie Wonder, his favourite singer, with the Library of Congress’ Gershwin prize. According to the AFP, the Library of Congress had planned to honour the African-American singer before Obama’s election. The US President has long been a Stevie Wonder fan and according to him, his knowledge of the singer’s repertoire was instrumental in his courtship with his wife, Michelle. “I think it’s fair to say that had I not been a Stevie Wonder fan, Michelle might not have dated me, we might not have married (…) The fact that we agreed on Stevie was part of the essence of our courtship.” Michelle Obama has called Stevie Wonder “one of the world’s greatest artits”. She also confirmed that, Barack and herself had chosen a Stevie Wonder song titled “you and I” as their wedding song.
