Gabon – France: Bank accounts of Gabonese President, Omar Bongo, frozen in France

Gabon: Bank accounts belonging to Omar Bongo Ondimba, President of Gabon, with over a four million euro deposit, has been frozen in France, the Sud-Ouest journal announced Thursday. The Gabonese President, according to judicial sources, refused to reimburse a French industrialist an amount of 457 347 euros lent to him in 1996 to help bail out the President’s father who was detained in Libreville at the time.
