Algeria: 5 candidates to oppose Bouteflika in the April 9 presidential elections

The president of the Algerian constitutional council, Boualem Bessaih, Monday announced that 6 candidates have been retained to stand for the country’s next presidential elections to take place April 9, El Watan has announced. Besides Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who is bidding for a third presidential term, the others given the green light by the Constitutional council are: Moussa Touati, president of Front national algerien (FNA – Algerian National Front), Louisa Hanoune, spokesperson for the Labour party (PT -Parti des Travailleurs), Fawzi Rebaïne, president of Ahd 54, Mohamed Saïd of The Liberty and Justice party (Parti liberté et justice -PLJ) and Jahid Younsi, secretary general of the El-Islah Movement.
