Zambia: 8000 mining jobs cut

The global economic meltdown has hit the Zambian mining sector hard. Over 8000 miners have lost their jobs since December, TV5 reports. According to Rayford Mbulu, president of the mining labour union, more Zambian miners will lose their jobs. This is expected to push the country further into poverty.
