Sixteen islamists from the Al-Qaeda North Africa group were killed, Saturday evening, by the Algerian military near Blida (80 km south of Algiers, the capital), according to a report released, Tuesday, by the Algerian interior minister, Yazid Zerhouni, TSA ALGERIE reports. According to the same source, one soldier was killed while five others were injured in the crossfire. The Algerian authorities confirm that the operation began Friday, after they had obtained information from a prior mission, which saw the dismantling of an islamist group.
