Zimbabwe PM Morgan Tsvangirai, Monday, said that no foul play was involved in a car crash last week which killed his wife and left him injured.
Addressing mourners gathered at his home for the funeral of his wife Susan, he said the crash last Friday outside the capital was a genuine accident. “This was an accident, and no foul play was involved,” he told supporters at his home in Avondale, Harare. Tsvangirai returned home mid-day Monday from Botswana, where he had gone on Saturday for further medical examination after being released from a local hospital. He sustained head and neck injuries from the crash, which happened after his vehicle was side-swiped by a lorry and rolled over three times. Some officials of the Prime Minister’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party have insinuated that the accident could have been planned, considering the number of high profile people who have died in suspicious road a ccidents in the southern African nation in recent times.
