Sudan: U.S. embassy staff asks “non-essential” to leave the country

The U.S. embassy in Sudan said Tuesday that it was evacuating its “non essential” staff and “families of all employees,” on a voluntary basis, reports L’Express. “This measure is a response to the expulsion of thirteen international NGOs operating in Darfur. The Sudanese government’s decision to ban the NGO’s followed the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against President Omar el-Bashir.
