Gay rights activist groups in Nigeria have appealed to a public committee of the national assembly discussing a bill which seeks to imprison gay people who live together and anyone who “witnesses, abet and aids the solemnization” of same sex marriage, the BBC has reported. The bill is said to consider same sex marriage as two gay persons living together. It also gives the national police the right to arrest people they suspect of being homosexual.
