Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir Wednesday called on rebels to lay down their arms, during a visit to Darfur, TV5 has reported. In a speech addressed to a huge crowd gathered in the village of Sabdo in South Darfur, Mr. Bashir appealed for a united Sudan while calling on our sons and brothers to lay down their arms”. The Sudanese President has been accused by the Court Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the conflict that ravaged the region.
