According to a new government gazette on the Nigerian 2006 population census, Nigerian women are outnumbered by men.

Quoted by the local press Sunday, the official gazette indicated that the country’s total population of 140,431,790 comprises 71,345,488 males and 69,086,302 females.

This means that there are 2,259,186 more males than females in the country.

Males outnumber females only in four of the country’s 36 states – Ebonyi, Enugu, Ogun and Plateau States.
