Akon, Wednesday, launched a song called Blood Into Gold (From blood gold) to pay tribute to victims of slavery. The release was planned to coincide with the UN slavery remembrance day. The American R & B star of Senegalese descent explains that his choice of song and date is to help inform “many of his American friends (who) do not know the history (of slavery).
