Three opposition candidates, Djahid YOUNSI, Mohand, OUSSAID Belaïd and Fawzi Rebaïne, have protested againt the country’s electoral commission, Commission de Surveillance des Elections (CSE). They have threatened to quit the Algerian presidential elections slated for 9 April. In a press conference at the Ahd 54 party headquarters, Monday, they protested the CSE’s inability to play its role as regulator and monitor of the pending elections, and also accused the commission of failing to keep an eye on campaign irregularities committed by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who is standing a third term. According to them, the president is taking “advantage” of State services to facilitate his campaign, as against them who have been allocated only 1.5 billion dinars for their campaign, The New Republic reported.
