Nigeria’s Justice Minister and Attorney-General, Michael Aodoankaa, Wednesday announced that US$150 million out of the US$180 million bribes allegedly paid to Nigerian officials by US firm Halliburton — to smoothen the award of contracts in the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) — has been found in an account in Zurich, Switzerland. The money is said to have been found in the course of the investigations by a team set up by the Nigerian government to help identify the Nigerians involved in the bribery scandal. The Minister in charge of a team that visited the US and other countries has said that the identity of the owner of the account in which the US$150 million was found is yet to be known.
