Former South African police chief and close Thabo Mbeki ally, Jackie Selebi, is set to stand trial for accepting bribes of up to about US$ 133 000 between 2000 and 2005, from Glen Agliotti, a drug trafficker. He has denied the allegations of bribery and links to organised crime but according to reports an intercepted phone call has revealed a political interference in the criminal case.
