Niger: Former Prime Minister Hama Amadou appears in court April 23

The former Prime Minister of Niger, Hama Amadou, charged with embezzlement of public funds will appear in court April 23, TV5.org reports. In detention since 26 June 2008, Hama Amadou, who is reportedly ill, has asked to be sent abroad for medical treatment. The Nigerian authorities have agreed to evacuate the former minister to Morocco. But the former minister insists on a treatment in France. He has so far not been successful in his demands and is still in detention Niamey.
