Burundi: albino killers’ trial open

The trial of eleven people accused of murder and attempted murder of albinos began Tuesday before the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Ruyigi in Burundi. The murders were committed between September 2008 and March 2009 in Ruyigi province. Among the 11 defendants, eight are accused of “killing and maiming albinos, starting with a little girl named Violet Harerimanna on 8 September 2008,” Nicodemus Gahimbare, the prosecutor in charge of the case said.
