Nineteen people died Friday in landslides caused by heavy rainfall in several districts of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Abidjan.net reports. The final official assessment indicates that 19 people, including 9 children, died in the catastrophe. Several “slum settlements” have sprung up in the country’s economic capital in recent years.
